Its mining remains and ore-processing haciendas recall the wealth of its silver and gold veins. It is a destination of ruins, mines, silence, art and semi-desert landscape; its appeal lies not in “perfect” monuments but in remains: furnaces, shafts, haciendas, tunnels and legends.
Recommended: walk the center, visit the Parish of San Pedro, tour mining areas with a guide, photograph the Jesuit Ovens, visit galleries, attend festivals, buy crafts and never enter unauthorized shafts or mines.
