About GoPueblos

GoPueblos is an independent guide to the Magical Towns (Pueblos Mágicos) of Mexico. It started with a simple idea: planning a trip to a small town should be as easy as looking at a map. So we brought all 177 towns in the program together in one place, each with its own illustrated diorama, an original description, how to get there, what to do, when to go and the festivals worth knowing about.

What you will find here

  • An interactive map with every Magical Town, to discover nearby destinations and plan routes.
  • A guide for each town with history, sights, food, distances to the nearest cities and airports, and practical tips.
  • A festival calendar with carnivals, patron saint fairs and festivals in the towns.
  • Guides by state and by theme (beach, cool climate, UNESCO heritage, near your city) and a travel blog.

How we create our content

Our texts are written from official and public sources: Mexico’s federal Tourism Ministry (SECTUR), VisitMexico, each state’s tourism office, INAH (the national institute of anthropology and history) and municipal governments. We cross-check facts between sources and rewrite them in our own words so they are clear and useful for travelers. Distances are calculated in a straight line from each town’s coordinates, and every guide says so.

Opening hours, prices and festival dates change often. We review the information periodically, but we recommend confirming with the local tourism office before you travel.

Independence

GoPueblos is not an official website and is not affiliated with the Tourism Ministry or any government. “Pueblos Mágicos” is the name of a Government of Mexico program; we use it only to describe the destinations.

How GoPueblos is funded

The site is free. To keep it running we show ads and some affiliate links to travel services (for example hotels, tours or car rentals). If you book through those links we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Advertisers and partners do not decide which towns we recommend or what we say about them. Details are in our privacy and cookie policy.
