José Guadalupe Posada was born in Aguascalientes in 1852. His engraving of the «Calavera Garbancera», which Diego Rivera named La Catrina, became the symbol of the Day of the Dead. The festival honors that legacy with art, music and traditions downtown and on Isla San Marcos.
